Apple Airport Express

Updated on August 29, 2007

Apple's Airport Express is a wireless network device which acts as a print server, provides a wireless network connection and streams music.

The device uses the 802.11g standard which allows Wi-Fi compliant PCs and Macs to connect to the internet via DSL or cable modem. Up to 10 devices can connect to the internet at one time.

Airport Express can be used as a print server for USB enabled printers. Connect the USB printer to the USB port on the Airport Express and Bonjour on a Mac will automatically detect the printer. Download Bonjour for Windows and a Windows PC can easily be set up to print to the Airport Express network printer.

Airport Express supports Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA/WPA2) and 128-bit WEP encryption. It also has a built in firewall and password protection.
